THE COMPANY

JU Metallwarenfabrik develops functional and durable mailbox systems, parcel locker systems, and intercom systems for industry and commerce that impress with their precise workmanship, high quality, and practical functionality.

The CPQ solution

Originally, the company used a configurator that was used exclusively internally and served primarily for visualization purposes.

The goal was to replace it with a comprehensive solution that would also largely automate price calculation and the entire quotation process.

The aim was to create a platform that would enable anonymous users to configure products and submit inquiries, while at the same time enabling the sales department and dealer network to configure products, calculate prices, and generate quotes at the touch of a button.

1. Configurator

  • Correct configurations – Each selection is checked against rules and is technically feasible and producible.
  • Accessible to all – Whereas the configurator previously ran exclusively on internal servers and was only available to the sales department, it is now publicly accessible.
  • Significantly faster variant creation – Renderings that previously took several minutes are now available in seconds.
  • Wissensunabhängig von Einzelpersonen – Produktregeln, Abhängigkeiten und Konfigurationslogiken waren bislang stark an einzelne Mitarbeitende gebunden (z. B. ab welcher Breite eine Quertraverse erforderlich ist). Dieses Wissen ist nun vollständig im Konfigurator abgebildet.

HIGHLIGHTS

Specifications & Standards

The configurator ensures that technical and normative specifications are met - such as defined distances between the base plate and the bottom edge of the mailbox or the minimum height of cameras for barrier-free access, which cannot be exceeded.

New variants without 3D adjustment

New variants or widths can be easily added without having to adjust the 3D model. The new specification is simply stored and can be maintained by the customer themselves.

Bill of materials at the touch of a button

The parts list is created automatically – no more manual calculations, no more errors due to manual allocation.

Combination logic

Not all modules can be combined as desired—certain features such as parcel boxes or intercom systems require fixed positions within the mailbox system.

Positioning logic

A predefined grid allows you to flexibly arrange the desired number of mailboxes while automatically maintaining defined spacing and proportions.

Configuration down to the last detail

The configuration options cover a wide range of variants and combinations, down to the smallest detail.

Custom design & 3D

Custom engravings, box designers, and 3D visualization enable precise configuration with realistic surfaces and freely positionable elements within defined limits.

Guided Selling

At the beginning, Guided Selling guides you through the basic settings in three steps, laying the foundation for further configuration.

Augmented reality

Augmented reality is used to display the planned mailbox system virtually in real space, thus enabling a realistic visualization.

  • Price determination at the touch of a button – always the right price, depending on the user role.
  • Error-free calculation – exact price calculation guaranteed without calculation errors.

Price exclusively for distribution

Sales staff see prices based on defined parameters, while anonymous users do not see any price information.

Prices per m² & running meter

Prices are calculated correctly even for racks with different calculation logics, even if individual components are calculated by the running meter and others by the square meter.

Multilingualism & Currencies

The configurator is available in several languages. This makes the tool ideal for international projects and partners.

In the past, the configurator was an isolated, standalone solution: operated locally on the server, used exclusively by the sales department, and without any connection to pricing or quotation processes.
